Clark's Chick Hatchery

Clark's Chick Hatchery is located in Burtts Corner, New Brunswick. They sell day old broiler and leghorn chicks to all four of the Atlantic Provinces. Hatching eggs are primarily sourced from company owned broiler and leghorn breeding operations. The company has 14 grow barns where day old breeder chicks are raised for the first 21 weeks. The 21-week-old breeders are then moved to one of the 26 breeding barns located in Burtts Corner as well as Sussex, New Brunswick.

The hatching eggs are trucked to the hatchery daily from the local barns. At the hatchery they are set into the incubators under precise temperature and humidity controls. After 18 days they are transferred to the hatchers where in 3 days time they are ready for processing. During the processing the chicks are separated by sex using a visual inspection of the primary and secondary feathers on the wing tip. From here they go to be vaccinated, counted, and placed in boxes ready to be delivered to the producers. The company owns three tractor-trailers and one straight truck used for chick delivery. These trucks all have a specially designed ventilation system necessary to maintain a comfortable environment for the chicks during transportation.
